Голова Військового комітету НАТО відзначив мужність українських ветеранів / The Chair of the NATO Military Committee praised the courage of Ukrainian veterans(UA/ENG below)
Адмірал Джузеппе Каво Драгоне, Голова Військового комітету НАТО, передав обіцяні подарунки українським ветеранам – учасникам проєкту “Друге дихання”, які у січні 2025 року успішно підкорили вершину Кіліманджаро.Цей жест став продовженням зустрічі, що відбулася у лютому 2025 року під час візиту до штаб-квартири НАТО в Брюсселі українських ветеранів.
Тоді учасники експедиції на Кіліманджаро презентували тизер документального фільму про своє сходження.Адмірал Каво Драгоне був глибоко вражений незламністю духу та активною життєвою позицією українських ветеранів, які, незважаючи на ампутації нижніх кінцівок, продовжують надихати світову спільноту.
Він особисто пообіцяв їм пам’ятні подарунки – футболки з символікою італійських спецпризначенців.Подарунки та лист від Голови Військового комітету НАТО отримали Владислав Шатіло та Михайло Матвіїв, представники проєкту “Друге дихання”, які брали участь у зустрічі в Брюсселі. Власне самапередача подарунків відбулася наприкінці березня по завершенню засідання Ради Україна – НАТО на рівні військових представників. Адмірал Джузеппе Каво Драгоне скористався нагодою, щоб передати обіцяні сувеніри українській делегації.Почесну місію вручити лист й футболки безпосередньо воїнам-ветеранам виконав начальник Головного управління комунікацій ЗС України полковник Богдан Сеник.
Проєкт “Друге дихання” об’єднав українських ветеранів, які після ампутацій нижніх кінцівок та отримання протезів вирішили підкорити найвищу точку Африки – гору Кіліманджаро (5895 метрів над рівнем моря). Успішне сходження стало символом незламності українського народу та має на меті привернути увагу до питань реабілітації військовослужбовців через спорт та альпінізм. На основі проєкту восени цього року очікується вихід документального фільму.Збройні Сили України висловлюють щиру вдячність адміралу Джузеппе Каво Драгоне та НАТО за підтримку й увагу до українських воїнів.
The Chair of the NATO Military Committee praised the courage of Ukrainian veterans.Admiral Giuseppe Cavo Dragone, Chair of the NATO Military Committee, handed over the promised gifts to the Ukrainian veterans – participants of the “Second Wind” project, who in January 2025 successfully conquered Mount Kilimanjaro.
This gesture was a continuation of the meeting that took place in February 2025 during the visit of Ukrainian veterans to NATO Headquarters in Brussels. Then the participants of the Kilimanjaro expedition presented a teaser of a documentary about their ascent.Admiral Cavo Dragone was deeply impressed by the indomitable spirit and active life position of the Ukrainian veterans, who, despite the amputations of their lower limbs, continue to inspire the world community.
He personally promised them memorable gifts – T-shirts with the symbols of Italian Special Forces.Gifts and the personal letter from the Chairman of the NATO Military Committee were received by Vladyslav Shatylo and Mykhailo Matviiv, representatives of the “Second Wind” project, who participated in the meeting in Brussels. The actual gift-giving ceremony took place at the end of March in the margins of NATO – Ukraine Council at the level of military representatives. Admiral Giuseppe Cavo Dragone took the opportunity to hand over the promised souvenirs to the Ukrainian delegation.
The honorary mission of handing over the letter and T-shirts directly to the veteran soldiers was carried out by the Chief of the General Directorate of Public Communications of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Colonel Bohdan Senyk.The “Second Wind” project united Ukrainian veterans who, after amputations of their lower limbs and receiving prostheses, decided to conquer the highest point in Africa – Mount Kilimanjaro (5895 meters above sea level).
The successful ascent became a symbol of the indomitability of the Ukrainian people and is intended to draw attention to the issues of rehabilitation of military personnel through sports and mountaineering. A documentary based on the project is expected to be released this fall.
The Armed Forces of Ukraine express their sincere gratitude to Admiral Giuseppe Cavo Dragone and NATO for their support and attention to Ukrainian soldiers.
