⚡️⚡️ On 8th October 2026, units of the Defence Forces of Ukraine struck the Omsk Oil Refinery in the russian federation.
ℹ️ Background. The Omsk Oil Refinery is the largest oil refining facility in the russian federation. It has an annual crude oil refining capacity of more than 21 million tonnes. The refinery specialises in producing a wide range of fuels, lubricants and petrochemical products.
The facility is involved in supplying the russian occupying forces.
The Omsk Oil Refinery was previously hit on 6th July 2026. At that time, Ukrainian forces struck the ELОU-AVT-11 primary crude oil distillation unit, with a designed processing capacity of 8.4 million tonnes of crude oil per year.
Strikes against such facilities are an exercise of Ukraine’s inherent right to self-defence under Article 51 of the UN Charter and are aimed at reducing the military and economic potential of the russian federation.
