russia continues its intensive air attacks against Ukraine. The enemy is attempting to strike critical infrastructure and is terrorising the civilian population, employing various types of drones.
In the course of October 2026, the enemy launched a total of 6,473 Shahed-131/136 and Shahed-238 UAVs (designated Geran-1/2/3/4/5 in russian service). The Ukrainian Defence Forces destroyed 4,859 of them.
This result is delivered through the sustained efforts of Ukrainian fighter and army aviation, surface-to-air missile units, mobile fire groups, unmanned systems operators and electronic warfare assets.
Last month, the interception rate against jet-powered Shahed-type strike drones stood at 66 per cent, while Ukrainian air defence performs even better against conventional Shaheds — 89 per cent.
This is a significant result, particularly given the scale of russian air attacks and their increasing sophistication: changes to flight routes and altitudes, and the combination of strike drones with decoys, missile strikes and other means.
At the same time, we would stress that even effective work by Ukrainian air defence does not remove the threat entirely. We therefore urge everyone not to ignore air raid alerts.
Countering ballistic missiles remains a significant challenge; in October the enemy made active use of them against Ukrainian civilian infrastructure.
The Ukrainian Defence Forces require more effective counter-ballistic capabilities, while continuing to integrate and strengthen a layered air defence system and to introduce new approaches to the detection and neutralisation of air threats.
The fight goes on.
Glory to Ukraine!
