⚡️⚡️ On 21st September and during the night of 22nd September 2026, units of the Defence Forces of Ukraine struck two important oil industry facilities in the russian federation.
In Ufa, Republic of Bashkortostan, russian federation, the Bashneft-UNPZ Oil Refinery was hit. A fire was reported at the facility.
ℹ️ Background. Bashneft-UNPZ has an annual crude oil refining capacity of approximately 7.5 million tonnes. The facility carries out deep crude oil refining and produces petrol, diesel and boiler fuel, liquefied gases, sulphur and other petroleum products.
In Samara, Samara region, russian federation, the Kuibyshev Oil Refinery was also hit. A fire was reported at the facility.
ℹ️ Background. The Kuibyshev Oil Refinery is one of the largest oil refineries in the Samara group of the russian federation and is part of PJSC Rosneft. It has an annual crude oil refining capacity of approximately 7 million tonnes. The refinery produces petrol, diesel fuel, fuel oil and more than 30 other petroleum products.
Products from both refineries are used to meet the needs of the russian armed forces.
Strikes against such facilities are an exercise of Ukraine’s inherent right to self-defence under Article 51 of the UN Charter and are aimed at reducing the military and economic potential of the russian federation.
Operations against key enemy targets are ongoing.
