Overnight on 7th November, Ukraine’s Missile Forces, using Neptune coastal defence missile systems operated by the Ukrainian Navy, struck JSC Proton-Electrotex, a russian defence industry enterprise in Oryol, Oryol region, russia.
The target was hit, and a fire broke out at the facility. Explosions were also reported.
🔍 The extent of the damage is being assessed.
ℹ️ Background: JSC Proton-Electrotex is a leading russian manufacturer of optoelectronic equipment and devices, with a full production cycle. Its products include modules for Kh-71 Kover air-launched cruise missiles and switching inverters for 9M723 Iskander-M ballistic missiles, among other components.
Why this matters: Striking this facility complicates the production of components for cruise and ballistic missiles used by the russian army to attack Ukrainian cities.
In exercising their right to self-defence under Article 51 of the UN Charter, the Defence Forces of Ukraine continue systematic efforts to undermine the military and economic potential of the russian aggressor and compel russia to end its armed aggression against Ukraine.
